All the gear no idea!
I spent half day fitting my new hugger on to the bike just to find that my rear tyre must be from an avon mud-plugger mould so the hugger had to come back off, I then spent the rest of the day fitting the carb tune and rigging up a make shift fuel tank that pissed everywhere and when I finally got it sorted there wasn't enough juice in the battery to start the bike. 2 guesses what I will be doing tomorrow?

Uber Pikeys top tips to Carb Balancing,
First step: Dont f**king bother!
Second step: Why the f**k did I bother!
Third step: I can't believe I f**king bothered!
How hard is it to balance carbs? The answer is not that hard, unless the adjuster screw between 2 + 4 has a stripped thread bugger! I only found this out after I spent all day scratching my head wondering what it was I was doing wrong. I decided to rip the carbs back off to find the thread fault, replaced the bolt(quick fix) and replace the carbs, hey presto adjustable carbs...Oh and Uber Pikey's top tip, don't spend your money on expensive carb adjusting super duper right angled screw drivers, use a 1/4" flexi drive(not the u/j type) extension and a 7mm socket.

On most bikes (Inline four) carb balancing is very quick and a easy job (Most of the time) but I must say the NC is a bit of a fcuker but after you have spent the hours doing it the first time its a doddle the next time.. Alternatively take the carbs off and balance them manually Im sure a google search will bring up a walk through guide..
Uber Pikey my number one hate next to standing behind folks at ATM machines faffing about looking for pin numbers etc is working on a bike that a stupid spanner monkey has had his hands on prior to me working on it, rounded off bolts and screws really pi$$ me off
This guy although being more northern than santa claus and working on a Suzi Bandit has done a bloody good vid to explain the basics, I have sent this link to a fair few people who have ended up doing a good carb tune after watching it..

Re: NC30 carbs balancing, before - after video
Even though some spanner monkey had f**ked with the carbs I was lucky, i have a spare set of carbs and it had a spare adjuster screw still fitted. I have done plenty of carbs before but yesterday was a day of learning that's for sure, what could go wrong did go wrong, at the end of the day I have a highly balanced set of carbs and she runs a treat.
nice one

Re: NC30 carbs balancing, before - after video
Apologies for resurrecting an old thread!!!
But I am intending to fit and balance some RVF carbs to my NC30. Does anyone know if the process is different?
Also, being in work and not being able to watch vids or see pics on the net, where do the vacuum tubes connect to? (carbs or cylinder head area)? and what size adaptors do I need?
Loads of questions there, but I just want the bike to run well or as it should with all the modified bits I've done to it.
Look forward to replies or abuse as it should be fairly simple!!

How did you sort out the jumpy idle at the end?gonzothegreat wrote:I got a set of NGK ER9EH coming soon, I will also check the pilot screws as they might be out...
