Got hold of a multi meter, reg/rec fried and the alternator fried too! Tested the resistance on the alternator which was out side of tolerances , took it off and it was melted with broken windings! :o
Ordered one off fleebay so should be back on the road soon. Bloody bank holidays!

Well, all the electrics are running fine now ! Yay but was still having trouble withe the cold cylinder. It did improve after changing the 'O' ring but still not right. :(
After much head scratching (and throwing tools around the garage) i found one of the air ways by the bell mouths on the carb was blocked solid . No amount of compressed air was shifting it .
Eventually rigged up a tiny reservoir connected to the hole and filled it with full fat coke and left it over night.
Next day , bobs your uncle , clean as a whistle.
Pipe now bloody hot ( as testified by the shiny burnt skin on my fingers) .
Right , the suns out, off for a road test. 8-)
