My other bike (Honda C90 6v) electrical issues

Post by mattUKNC »

I know what you're thinking, these bike don't even have any electrics!!

Well, I'm currently having to use my NC30 every day for work as this has decided to play up. Great when the suns out, not so great in the rain, it's getting dirty!

Would anyone on here happen to have some inside knowledge of a 1982 C90zz 6volt? :D

I'm guessing it's an earthing issue somewhere as the black wire which runs to the flasher unit is currently 'live' where I believe it should be an earth!! :o And when you switch the indicators on, the neutral light flashes and then the bike stalls.

Not really sure where to start looking???! Yes, I do have a Haynes manual. That hasn't helped so far.

Any suggestions welcome!

check the condition of the cables in that area, sounds like the insulation has worn on the cables and there touching each other, hence the flashing neutral when you wanna indicate, and the live on your neutral. hope this helps :)

Thanks for the reply. The bike is in a few pieces at the moment, I think I'll just have to remove all wiring from behind the headlight (it looks a mess) and see what's left! Then just attach each wire as I go and see what happens! :D

It's just very time consuming and my wife's not too impressed at the amount of time I can spend cleaning the other bike anyway! :D :D lol

For anyone who might have been at all interested in this post, my uncle fixed it in the end! :D
He doesn't know how though as the indicator relay, which has 3 connections, is only connected to 2 wires on the loom, so there's 1 wire left over, not connected to anything!!!
We can only think that the new relay is built differently to the original?!!?!

Anyway it passed the MOT, so that's all that matters really and it's ready for the (soon to be here) winter months!

It's not all about the top speed...

45mph is ok, I think it might have hit 50 once!?
