Post by Vfr400/tbird »

Im looking in to putting a digital dash on my NC21 i like the look of the Vapor ones but know very little about them, has anyone actualy installed a digital dash on one of the NC's and could they possibly let me know how much hassle i am looking at fitting it?

Did it last month on my NC30, not sure how it will differ but I'l tell you what I had to do. Not too bad if you have tools but it is a bit of work. I disconnected old clocks and speedo drive cable and put in a 2.2ohm resister (not sure if this applies to NC21). I then removed the left brake caliper and drilled a small whole to fit the speed sensor, I also had to make a small right angle aluminium bracket to hold it. Magnet screwed straight in to the brake disc. I used a syringe to suck out some coolant (I had just changed it so didnt want too drain) then cut a section out of the top right hand coolant pipe near top rad, fit the temp sensor in there. Tacho was easy just an earth and wrap around spark plug cable. Then I had to make a bracket to hold the unit itself, easy. I bought (and recommend you buy) the dashboard lights unit. These required the wiring diagram and a bit of soldering. Then enter all your relevant data and settings and its done. Works very well, nice bright backlight and I am very happy to have done it.

It is smaller than I expected, will post pics if you want.

I'm not really sure, I called and asked about it and they sent the one that was right. The box is generic, I think the differences are just the sensors and mounts that come with as well as stealth vs regular which is simply colour. Obviously it will be one of the two motorcycle versions, I will see if I can find the invoice maybe there is a code. I would email them and ask.
