Koso RX2 speedo on NC29.
Hi guys,
searched the forum but didn´t find really what I need to know. I bought an Koso RX2 speedo and the only thing I know is that the rpm picup should come from an cable which is wrapped around the spark plug of cyl. 1.
But I heard here on the forum that it is also possible and even better to picup the rpm signal directly from the CDI. I got an Ignitech CDI from GF racing.
So It would be great if anybody here got knowledge about the speedo mod and could help me. Hope that all the other wirinig could be done with the schematic from Koso.
My bike is rightnow nearly stripped down to the frame so I could do what ever is necessary like overhaul the loom or somethng like that.
last question btw: Is it possible to install an oil temperature sensor for the Koso speedo?
Cheers,

Re: Koso RX2 speedo on NC29.
just look at the 29 wiring diagram at the clock end the RPM wire is yellow and green IIRC you need to do some of this my friend

and with some carefull work end up with a loom like this, have a close look at the 'clock' end of the loom

If its anything like mine then yes there is an extra cable you can buy for oil temprature..

based on my experience, to have a better signal from the RPM cable you must have a good and clean harness. I used to have my old harness which is really a mess. I have a very poor RPM reading (probably the wiring is grounded, not sure) so I wrapped a cable to the tension wire but the RPM reading is poor.
Bought a better harness (without being cut or modified) from GF, tapped the RPM cable to Koso’s RPM cable directly, and wallla, I had a good RPM response.
I use also Ignitech CDI and Koso RX2 on my NC29
Its possible to put an oil temp sensor to the drain plug, but you need an adapter to fit the sensor in. Mine i just put it inside the airbox, hehehe!
