Rear shock problem !!

Post by btripp93 »

Hi
I've been trying to get out on my vfr , when ever there is a bit of sun, and every time I get on the bike the suspension squeaks and is very slow of the rebound. I'm not a mechanic but it doesn't seem right. I'm not a heavy guy only weight about 60kg.

What should I do, repair it , upgrade it , replace it ????
what are the costs like ??

Sounds like a seized bush in the shock/linkage, cannot remember which one is supposed to move. Once removed and greased mine was ok.

Bear in mind if the standard shock is still fitted its likely to be shot to bits, they were underdamped when new so all are past there best now. Best option is to replace, nitron, maxton, ohlins etc but you may find someone willing to rebuild your standard shock if its not too badly gone.
