ok, the time has finally come for me to man up and use my NC30 for my 60 mile round trip to work each day (motorway and city traffic).

I'll be honest, I'm a bit nervous, as in the past it has let me down (my fault for using throttle when i was starting it), so i have a few silly questions.

When the engine is warm, and its been stood for an hour or so, should i start it with no choke, just throttle/starter button?

Apart from oil/water/tyre pressures, what should i be looking for to keep an eye on?

Daft questions, even when I have been riding 20+ years, I just dont want to hurt my NC30.

Once warm don't use choke. Keep an eye out for the charging system( battery, rectifier, stator) as I guess you will be riding a lot with the lights on.

Chain and sprockets, correctly adjusted chain. keep everything torqued up too

And it will run fine and be up to the task

I do a 52 mile round trip on mine (when the weathers nice and the mrs wants the car!) and shes not let me down. As has been said, keep on top of the maintainance and she'll be fine.

as above - chain: keep it adjusted and lubed
also, brake pads (easy to check with a torch) and fluid levels
worth cleaning and correctly lubing the calipers up from time to time if you are riding in crap weather
check the lights, brake lights, horn, indicators regularly. safe idea when in traffic regularly.

I have to commute to Wakefield now and again - (35miles)..often times I'll come home the long way which makes it a 100 miler a day...and all worth it.

So long as you don't go ragging the motor from cold you'll be OK. These engines are strong little buggers and so long as you show a little mechanical sympathy you'll do fine.
As said previously the electrics can be a weak point, but if you check the condition of the regulator and battery there's very little to go wrong (you'll know the reg/rec's failed 'cos the battery won't keep its charge and fail to turn the starter motor over. But a bumpstart is easily done- I bumped my NC21 about for almost a year...)

My main concern is just starting it from warm/hot etc. I'll just have to man up and get on with it :)

Ride locally, then when you get home try hot starting with/without throttle.
As the motor cools, try various warm starts with/without choke and throttle to find the best way.

Don't spin the engine for more than 2 or 3 seconds when experimenting, just try different settings until you find the best way..

If flooded, sometimes it will clear if throttle held fully open with kill switch off and spun over on starter for several seconds
