Clutch cable routing

ok so my clutch cable snapped on friday and i ordered a replacement from honda dealer the same day which im hoping will arrive tomorrow...

i replaced the cable when i got the bike in may, with a non genuine part which wasnt very good, and now that im going to be using a genuine part id like to route it the correct way. the previous owner of the bike informed me that he had been using the bike with it routed wrong in the first place so its been wrongly routed for a while now

if anyone has a pic that would be great, diagrams and descriptions are also appreciated ...

clutch cable comes out of the lever and through a guide on the clipon then inbetween the yokes hooked in the hook on the screen brace then down along the frame to the clutch , not the best pics but you should be able to see enough

Just got my cable from honda dealers but before i fit it i want to know if the cable needs lubricating at all?
or shud i just whip it on

never lubed mine before it went on , never had a prob with it (not sure if your meant to lube a fresh one actually)

its a brand new cable...you need to lube it

Ive just seen that now I feel like taking it off, what would i use to lube it? ive never lubed a cable before

I've never lubricated clutch cables on VFR's.

Are they Teflon coated inside? If they are you don't need to and shouldnt' lube them as it will break down the teflon and reduce the life of the cable.

There is nothing in the NC30 service manual schedual about lubricating the clutch cable either.

He has an OEM cable, I doubt it would have teflon. Sorry, I merely meant to suggest it as a way to prevent premature wear on the cable. I've come across new cables binding and sustaining heavy wear/fatigue due to being installed without some adequate lube (obviously others would have different experiences, so should also be taken into account)...

I have aftermarket cables so I just made sure I greased the ends before installing but personally I would do it on an OEM cable.
