Ali Welding- Poor OEM or Re done? NC23

Post by Mingernick »

I took my swingarm to a blacksmiths to have the needle bearing casing removed and then to the powder coaters... both of them commented on the poor welding and suggested that it may have been re done at some point!

I am getting paranoid...

But it appears to have the original paint over them, they both agreed.

Anyone else had this experience or can confirm that the welds on the swing arm (& shock mounts) are a little messy?

I have looked up pics of the swingarm on line & they don't look any worse than mine... I guess they just look more hand done than by a robot!

It may be easier to stick a pic up of the welds in question then we can see what you mean.

Some pics... I don't have the swing arm as it is in for powder coating... but , since he mentioned it (& I was a bit concirned before) the shock mount welds also look a bit poor too... far worse than the swing arm.

Though the nice external welds on the outside of the frame seem to continue into the nasty internal welds around the shock mounts...

I don't know... what you think? I've not seen another NC23's bits!

Ok, thanks all... Think I'll just put it back together and see how it goes.
