nc30 not starting, no major faults?
Hi guys.
My vfr nearly had an MOT on Monday the 23rd, it didnt make it because the poor thing wouldnt start, although it started on the previous Friday, and i let it run until it was up to temperature. So far in my spare time, I have cleaned all the spark plugs, they are all sparking fine, taken the carbs off and sprayed the two jet's inside with carb cleaner. The air filter is not blocked, gave that a clean.
The only thing (that I can think of) that may be affecting the engine starting, is the fuel, as it has been sitting in the tank for quite a while. On Monday, I put a Tenner's worth of fuel in just to see if it made a difference, but no luck. The engine turns, but doesn't kick in. It splutters on some occasions, but after 5 or so minutes of trying, the battery begins to die so I stop. I havnt had time to empty the tank and check the fuel tap to see if It's clogged, I think that will be the next step this evening.
If anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated, this bike has been in my possession since last April, only recently passed my module 2 and was hoping to have it on the road by the beginning of February
Thanks in advance!

Have you checked the vacuum hose to the fuel tap, may not be connected or has perished. Also, fuel tap diaphram may be shot. Any of the above will stop fuel flow.

It is definitely connected to the fuel tap, may possibly of come off the other end. it could be come sort of deterioration, hope to find out soon as I booked it in for an investigation today, will hopefully find out within the next couple of days.
Cheers for your help

Sounds flooded and plugs are dead.
Sorry if I'm telling you to suck eggs, but..... how long have you been riding the bike for and are you aware of how to start it properly? Try full choke NO throttle until it catches, don't give it any throttle until it's been idling for at least a couple of minutes.
This might be a bit overkill but if you're not familiar with the ins and outs of these bikes they can be difficult to start. Plugs are pricey too, treat em nice!

It turned out that the vacuum diaphragm was split. had it replaced, runs fine now.
