Re: Carbon question.......
Have started the frame covers now. I have decided to do full length moulds so it can be cut down if needed or be a full length frame cover. I have also added some extra thickness to the part as the 1mm thick ones I have done so far are OK but the frame will take more of a hit and will be more likely to scuff on the road. So I have done them 2mm thick which will be up to 6 layers of material although I can leave a layer or two out for lightness and to allow for the adhesive strips I use.
Again I will do them in carbon and carbon Kevlar. Levo wants Carbon Kevlar anyway so I will again post up some pics as soon as the moulds are made... Porbably just over a weeks time.
This photo is just the wax sheet I have to used to replicate the cover needed and I still have a day or so's work to do and flanges to add before I can make the mould.. But here it is and I have started... I will be doing some Honda stuff if I can sort out some space and time for some parts kindly offered by Drunkn Munky....

Re: Carbon question.......
OK the two sets of swingarm covers in carbon will be started today. No weekend break for me this week.... So much for making the most of having no wife for 10 days!! One set will be in the little oven by the end of the day.
But just to show I have not been totally lazy the past few days... Here are a few pics of my Aprilia RS250 kit moulds and my first Pre-preg belly pan. I had to collect a sample of some material on Friday and get it all laid up yesterday. It goes in the Oven at the mould makers tomorrow. As laminator will know the material has a limited life out of a freezer and this material was freshly made on Friday so as per the manufacturers instruction it has been left out of the freezer for a few days.. Odd... But if it works great... If not, well not our fault and have another sample arriving on Tuesday from another supplier. So this is why I am getting a set of protectors done today and tomorrow as I may not be here for a few days when the new samples arrive for me to test.
Aprilia side moulds for the monocoque seat and tank.

The top of the tank and seat unit.

Finally fresh pre-preg laid up into one half of the belly pan mould.

Looking superb bud

Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.
