NC30 Thermostat housing

Post by Gadget »

I discovered recently that my NC30 was leaking coolant (when cold) from the themostat to engine block joint.
I removed the thermostat housing and found that the rubber sealing ring had split, so i ordered a new one from my local Honda dealer, which i fitted a couple of days ago.
All seemed fine until today when i found the same joint had sprung a leak again.
So today again i removed the housing but found that the rubber seal was still intact.
However, upon closer inspection i found that the thermostat housing doesn't seem to line up correctly with block when fitted/bolted up.
Seems to sit approx. 3mm too high/off centre.

I'm left with two options now which are to either, source another thermostat housing and hope that fits correctly to the block, or use some gasket sealant and pray that holds out.

Has anyone else found this casting defect on their NC30?
