lol..nah, you were bodging it with half a set of bearings..but anyways, you got that sorted and that is good. I use wodd, not PVC anyways!!
exhaust wise...well - get a link pipe to suit it or get a can that fits. It is your bike..your choice...but a Japanese system has an intrinsic value to it - they are rare, no more get made and so risking the damage to one for the sake of an exhaust can is not cool (IMO)
My advice to you - and this is patronising, so apologies in advance - stop fucking about with it, make it work 100% and make it saleable because as long as dogs and pigs have big swingy bollocks I would bet that you will sell this bike tomorrow if you could get a 600 instead.... it s the way of the worls..and so you need to be sure that you can pass the VFR on.

You can fit 'most any can to any pipe, regardless of pipe diameters, but it takes some ingenuity (and access to a motorsports parts catalogue, or the Internet) ...

i never had a half set of bearings, you guys just never understood what i meant, i never knew that the bearings and inner races came joined together.. so when i bought my bearings off the net, i thought it was ONLY the bearings, not the inner races.. but when they arrived i realized that the inner race was a part of the whole thing... but before i knew that, thats why i was asking if anyone sold inner races separately.

I see CMSMJ1 is with ladies on this!CMSMJ1 wrote: I use wood, not PVC anyways!!
You could maybe buy a can with a link pipe then get them welded together so it looks nice. I have too ZX636 cans on me NC30.
Taper rollers bearings come complete with the inner race and rollers, the ball bearing head races are all separate bits. But if your new to this you wouldnt know, so just take it one step at a time, we all have to learn.
But deffo make sure the bike is SAFE rather than wat colour its gonna be, you'll learn but do it the easy way mate rather than the hard way eh.
Cheers

The problem isn't that you are new to mechanics, everybody starts somewhere as you've rightly said.
It seems to be the way you go about things.
As a preface to this, old bikes like the NC30 can be had quite cheap in rough condition, becuase experienced owners know that it costs a fortune to get back into a good condition.
Old bikes are money pits. Unless you refresh everything that needs doing your often always going to be tinkering if you have an old neglected bike where the usual servicing hasn't been taking place.
More often than not, cheap and quick are not the right way to go about fixing something, nor is bodging it.
Rather than keep starting a job and getting stuck halfway through and asking for help, understand the whole job before you attempt it and ask questions beforehand if you don't understand.
That way you wont' be posting frantically on the forum in the middle of the night with topics like 'super mega ultra urgent help needed' or 'this bikes a piece of crap'.
Allow ample time to do a job, rather than trying to rush and bodge something on a Sunday night, if you need the bike wait until you have time or arrange other transport.
I'm sure people would be much more willing to reply to a post that read
'i've read through the haynes and honda book and will be removing the generator over the weekend, it seems straight forward but i'm not sure i have the right bolt... m20 x 1.5 ok?'
than 'super mega ultra urgent help needed - i've snapped a load of bolts in the exhuast and stripped some of them by rushing to get a job done, how do I fix it'
Plus gassing them for days before might help but sometimes they do snap so if in any doubt (they are difficult to undo) make sure you order up new studs and nuts in advance, that way you can put it back together.
I just think you need to slow down about and examine what your doing... something in your head should say to stop when things are being broken.. not carry on messing'
As for the exhaust. Post up pictures of the can and link pipe.. if theres a huge gap they might not be right.. my Yamamoto pipe and can is a tight fit but you can slide it up and down until it's clamped up.
Why do you want a different can anyway? Keep the money for when the next thing breaks... you said your starter motor is having issues.. they can be expensive to replace, and it might be something else all toghether..
