You said above it wouldn't run after about a minute but the battery was still reading 12.8v+ (this is a fully charged state)
How does it cut out? What happens when you press the button?

Ive done a load test on my battery and it drops to 10v under load and stays there which according to gauge is acceptable. Ive also done a resistance test on where the green and red wires go on the rectifier/regulator. One way i get no connection, the other way(correct way lol) i get a reading of 3.04ohmns so would that suggest the rectifier is melted inside n shorting out?should it have no connection either way i have the multimeter connected on the red and green pins?g1b50n wrote:Yeh it ran for around a minute lol, that was fully charged aswell. Also with rect/reg disconnected use a multimeter on ohms to measure between the terminals on the rect/reg where the red/white wire and green wires normally connect. +ve probe on red/white wire terminal and -ve probe on green wire terminal. Should measure infinity.

You can ride/racea bike without charging it for quite a decent amount of time.

Disconnect the reg/rec and genny.
Run the bike, it shouldnt' cut out.
Unless like mentioned above you have a good short circuit somewhere thats putting a great load on the battery it should run for a while. You can do quite a few laps on a track with total loss. (no charging system)

The rect/reg should should have infinite resistance in both direction between the red/white wire terminal and the green wire terminal, at the very least when +ve is applied to the red/white terminal, otherwise it will discharge the battery.
Have you checked the battery voltage without the rect/reg connected.

Yup i have the rectifier here and the reading i get in one direction is No connection and the other way is 2.764ohms. So would this indicate its goosed. The load test ive carried out on the battery held at 10v and dropped no further.
So the bike should run alot longer than it has been just on the battery? Ive ran it with the rectifier disconnected but it only runs a few minutes.

I rode from Manchester to near Birmingham with a fully charged battery and no reg/rec.
After it stops can you start it again? How do you get it started? You haven't said what you do yet.
It could be a bad reg/rec and imporperly setup carbs.

Im gunna go to the bike after work tonight bud, ill check the voltage with th battery connected with ignition on. See if it drops, then put lights on to see if it drops less than 12v, then start up with recifier disconnected. To start it i put choke fully on, no throttle. Starts up first time on button. Runs for a few minutes with rectifier connected then cuts out, it doesnt seem to want start again after that. I have ran it without the rectifier yet to be hinest mate to check the voltage. It doesn't seem to want to start again!?
Is still still with choke? How long do you leave it before it starts up again?
When it 'seems' not to want to start again is it cranking over ok but not starting?
Without a proper explanation of your problems its very difficult to imagine whats wrong with it
