noisy, clicking starter motor, then jams?
okay, ive had this problem in the past, and i thought it had gone away but its back again. if i dont use the bike for a day. or even when i leave it over night... the next morning the bike will not start. the starter motor turns, and it sounds like something is grinding together, and then eventually clicks and jams.... and when i press the ignition switch again, nothing happens... my obvious guess would be the flywheel teeth or something like that is broken? or could it be something else? cheers.

I had something similar on a ZX6R track bike I had last year. When I stripped the starter motor down I found the magnets stuck to the inside face of the casing were collapsed and falling into the workings. Fitted a second hand starter motor and problem solved. Not sure if the Honda starter is the same but worth a look.

Measure your battery voltage.xivlia wrote:okay, ive had this problem in the past, and i thought it had gone away but its back again. if i dont use the bike for a day. or even when i leave it over night... the next morning the bike will not start. the starter motor turns, and it sounds like something is grinding together, and then eventually clicks and jams.... and when i press the ignition switch again, nothing happens... my obvious guess would be the flywheel teeth or something like that is broken? or could it be something else? cheers.
You also get a clicking sound when theres not enough power in the bike.
Leaving it for a while and having starting issues sounds like it could be battey so best to check the voltage when ti deosn't start (easy to check)
How do you get it going when it doesn't start
