NC35 Bottom yolk/steering stem

Post by skinnydog0_0 » Wed Feb 29, 2012 12:58 pm

Hi All,
I have a replacement steering stem that is identical to the rvf one i bent apart from the stem being 10mm longer :?
when i put the lower bearings on and put it into the headstock the upper bearings are lifted out of teh bearing seat as the taper on the stem is 10mm higer than the old stem.
I am confused as i cant think of another honda that uses 52mm fork legs with this type of yolk.
I have thought about cbr600rr perhaps?
Or is it possible my frame has been crashed and work has been done to reduce the headstock ans steering stem length?
Anyone got any thoughts?
Cheers

No i dont think so. If the old one had been replaced, the headstock would have had to be machined to reduce the length which seems like a lot of work.
And i had the new yolk of edg-65 (Simon) so i know it's legit.
I have messaged Simon but he hasn't picked it up yet. i guess it's possible that the new one has been modded?
Is the nc30 steering stem longer than the 35? perhaps this one has been modded to fit USD forks to a 30?

30 and 35 are different - which is why we need the Rick O kit...so it could have been modded.

Not sure which is taller though

nc35 stem are taller, just fitted some nc35 forks to a nc30 and think the nc35 stems are 15mm longer as ricks kit makes up for the extra 15mm in lengh

This is really odd. I think i will give Rick O a call and see if he has any ideas. I have been looking at my headstock again, and it looks like it should (straight from the factory).
