nc24 pilot jet question,
hi guys im a newbie to this site, but haveing since seen the vast amount of nc24 knowledge you guys have. i desperately need some help here,i have an 88 nc24 that just refuses to start, got spark all four. backfireing through carbs and exhaust,[ dirty carbs] ive cleaned everything in the tank with solvents , blown it all through with compressed air. main jets are clear when held up to light, but i cant see straight through the pilots, are they meant to be clear through like the mains, dont want to put everything back together if the pilots are knackerd. i know one of you guys will know. thanks in advance, muzz

Re: nc24 pilot jet question,
Never seen a pilot jet that did not have a hole through the centre. Should also have a number of holes on the side. Try pushing a fine needle through to remove the obstruction.

Re: nc24 pilot jet question,
Slow / pilot jets are the same part on the NC24 as the NC30. (#35), as well as some other bikes

They should look like this.
You should be able to blow through it.
If you can't see through it then it isn't clean.

Re: nc24 pilot jet question,
thats what i thought but was a bit reluctant to poke about too much, thanks for takeing the time, lets hope this sorts it, would that blocked pilots cause the back fireing through the carbs? its a git to start but revs well when it does,

Re: nc24 pilot jet question,
Blocked pilot jets will affect from off idle to 1/4 throttle. Mixture will be lean depending on how many are blocked, how badly, and thus misfire and backfiring are quite likely.

Re: nc24 pilot jet question,
sorted the pilots bike ticks over fine, and revs to the limit smoothly, however took it out for a run and no matter what this would not go over 80, red speed light came on,i know there is no restrictor kit fitted in carbs, the speedo has a converter fitted, is this more likely to be a fuel problem or something else, realy need some help on this, thanks in advance for any ideas,

How does it feel when it gets to that speed?
How are your carbs? (what jets and emulsion tubes are in what carbs), pilot screw setting?
Fuel tap vaccum tube ok and not split or collapsing in on itself

Re: nc24 pilot jet question,
Sorry it was about 3am when I wrote my last reply so was half asleep.
The red speed-light comes on over 80km/h all the time.
