some pics on the track

Post by poomba2hd » Mon Feb 13, 2012 3:35 am

Hi All,

every body loves a pic or 2
here is the first day out on the track on my NC30. Had a full rebuild from the ground up. so first session was a bit nervous until i got comfortable that i had done everything spot on.

Next session was a bit better. The pegs are a smidge Low, as i found myself scraping them on a fast off camber left hander.. (broadford)

Handles great, next step some better breaks, and cooling system upgrade. the stock system didn't handle it too well..

Old yella gets up and boogies. coming from a cbr1000rr, it was a beat slow on the straights. but eats the corners. bag loads of fun.

Great pics, looks like you're handling that extra corner speed with ease!!

I was the same, coming from a ZX-10R onto an NC30 as my trackbike. At first I was carrying the same corner speed as I was used to on the big Kwaka, but eventually realised those old Hondas can hammer through a corner much better than a modern superbike in the same hands.

Yeah agreed, it's all about having the cans to wrap on the throttle at full tilt. Once you can get your head around that (i.e. doing that on a litre bike tends to spit you off the other side) you can get some pretty good drive out of the corners, and surprisingly even with slightly too long gearing, the 000's werent flogging me on the straight.

I still reckon there is a bit to go with my corner speed, just need to raise those pegs a bit.. can't wait

Only problem is, sporting injury not to long ago sees me in hospital on monday for a full knee reconstruction. So looks like it will be a while before i can get this out on the track again... :(

Looking at those photos the bike is sitting too low at the back, try raising the rear and this will also lift the fotpegs.

Your bike will feel really stable under brakes if the back end is low, however they will turn in much slower compared to a bike with the rear lifted somewhat.

You can raise the rear by modifying the dog bones, redrill the mounting holes so the length between holes is shorter (not much, there is a thread somewhere on this site) which raises the rear. Or if you're lucky you could find some RVF dog bones which are shorter to compensate for the 17" wheel.

I say it looks low as that photo it taken around the apex of the last corner where the bike should be nuetral but if you look at the bellypan it is clearly sitting very low at the rear.
