It's an ACU requirement if you want to go racing, and a jolly good idea for general bodding about on a track too.Hissing sid wrote:errrrr, what's the purpose of a "sharks fin"

I do them for conventional swingarms-

If someone wants to help me prototype an NC part I'm up for giving away free stuff in exchange

Re: Shark Fins - Which?
Do you think it would be possible to make one that was a shark fin and a rear brakeline holder.
basicaly arcing from about 25-40mm above the swingarm down through the 2 bolts at the rear of the swingarm and then to below the chain covering the sprocket?

a bit like this, only well a lot better but it gets the basic idea across better than my half arsed explanation above.

I don't see why not but can you not just zip tie the line to swingarm? It'd be neater.28hodge wrote:Do you think it would be possible to make one that was a shark fin and a rear brakeline holder.

Re: Shark Fins - Which?
For racing thats not possible i dont think, my understanding is the brakeline needs to be moved away from the chain and supported by a bracket, a bit like this.

it cant really be zip tied to the swinging arm as it will be too close to the chain, and would risk being severed.

That was my first rough rear brake bracket, Ive altered it to look less agricultural since.

Then yes, there's no reason why the rear brake line support can't be integrated into a shark fin. If you send me a drawing I'll make a prototype up. Would you mind checking it works ok?
