Re: rear hub bearing sizes
The double bearing is a Koyo 6908RS x2 (40. 62. 12) (it's two 12mm bearings (iirc) connected together by a plastic clip) - David Silvers usually carries this cheap, it's about 65gbp from Honda. 30gbp from DSS.tlnut wrote:anyone know these sizes? there appears to be 2 roller bearings and a needle roller bearing too
The needle roller i'm not sure on.
I gave up sourcing cheap Koyo bearings but brought it from DSS instead.

The needle bearing needs to be a Honda part mate, it has a built in seal part number 91071-MR7-003 about £50 though

Last time I did one it was very very easy! (Think I was extreemly luck though!) as i've heard horror stories of rusted in bearings that have almost become part of the swinging arm!vfrderek wrote:Cir clip pliers.... you wanna worry more about getting the old bearing out, it's a c**t of a job!!!!
Good sized drift and some heat if necessary might help!
Good luck! :-)
If you phone up David Silvers i'm sure they'll be able to give you all the prices and availablity pretty quickly

Re: rear hub bearing sizes
We differ on this, but I don't think the official Honda part is a necessity. The bearing fit is very close, and there's a dust seal too. I'll cut'n'paste my notes, below:vfrderek wrote:The needle bearing needs to be a Honda part mate, it has a built in seal part number 91071-MR7-003 about £50 though
Rear wheel bearing, left, GBP24.00 inc vat (Wemoto)
40mmID x 62OD x 24mm Width, substitute 2 x 6908 2RS. FWIW, if you go to a bearing supplier you will have a choice; either an 6908LU made up of two separate races, or a bearing made of one larger race. I used the single larger race reasoning it would cool more efficiently.
Rear wheel bearing, right, GBP 33.19 inc vat (Wemoto)
50x62x25mm Needle bearing. They're a fairly stock size available from most bearing suppliers. Much less expensive than Honda part no. 91062-MR7-003. You will need a dust seal 50x62x5 to go with the bearing.
Buying the bearings is easy. Getting the bearings out of the hub is the tricky part.

Re: rear hub bearing sizes
The 6908RS's from Honda are 12mm joined with a plastic clip. I see you just used a single 24mm bearing. Any theories or knowledge on why Honda used two bearings instead of one?tanto wrote:We differ on this, but I don't think the official Honda part is a necessity.
