RVF400 - how many miles will it last?

Hi guys,
mines showing 46,000miles, although it has had a speedo healer fixed at some point, so is probably 38-42000 miles. Engine runs really well, spins up and wants to run up to and beyond the redline, no probs.
I have a BMW for long distance, but I would still like to know how many years I can expect from the RVF.
I know it depends on frequent oil changes, good maintenance etc, but what mileage can I expect?
It's so high revving, I think it will wear out, but perhaps they don't? Perhaps thats why engines are so cheap on ebay? Do all RVF's end in crashes?
So what mileage can you guys claim?

yes its knackered - give you £100 for it, and im cutting my own throat with that too. ;-)

As you said, many factors will have an impact on mileage, there is not reason a well looked after bike cant see over 150k, there are several owners here who have seen big miles from their 30's and 35's and sold them on still as fresh as a daisy.
i think D gunther has the mileage record with around 180k wasnt it ? before selling it to buy another

Having said that my old red/black 30 went pop recently at around 75k, but I think Nubs held it flat out for a prolonged period so not really the bikes fault.

The engine giving up is the last thing that would enter my mind.

Far more common for the gearbox to wear a little, still useable but a bit of a pain

I would say ball park would be 100k but as always Service is key, the engine on both the 30 and 35 are very reliable the mainthing you may start to have issues with wont be so much engine "internals" more the rest of the bike I.E suspension dying and rubber parts cracking causing air leaks....

As my bikes get older with higher mileage I start to do periodict parts replacement, think stuff like carb rubbers and checking electrical connections do these things over a period of time it really doesnt cost that much...
Far better to do these things before a problem actually happens, I would say if the engine is fresh and serviced look at your front forks and rear shock and start to budget for new fork springs (Hagon/Maxton etc) and new oil with a rebuild then get a decent shock in there....

Ive found suspension is the most over looked part of a bike with most owners and lets be honest im sure riders would feel the difference from a decent shock than they would spending there hard earned on a pair of Alpinestars plastic spastic boots...

HA ha, my rear shock is OEM and probably well past it's best before date. Despite this I wear sidi vortice vernice boots, not cheap at all and would well cover the cost of a refurb!

Fairpoint triniriderz, the rear WP shock wa serviced by MCT in Nov, who also serviced the forks and changed springs to suit, so with Rosso2's the whole bike rides like new now. I was hoping that I hadn't spent all that dosh on something about to go pop - sounds like I should be ok for a bit.....
