Ram air

Hi i'd like to get some advice on running a ram air setup on a nc30 standard engine with a half system on it.

Can you send your carbs to get the most of the work done? what all would be done to them? I'm looking for as little hassle as possible. I know its going to need dyno time but i'd like to know where to start from.

What sort of BHP can you expect to get from a standard engine with the ram air setup right?

Who would know there way around these bikes in N Ireland?

First question, road or track?

For the road, don't bother, it's a waste of time.

For the track, fill your boots, but I've seen non ram-aired bikes win races.

Who's ram-air kit do you have? When I put ram air into my track bike I needed the following,
Fuel pump,
126 jets all round,
No air filter,
No velocity stacks,
Blocked off the small air valve, and
Fed the float breathers back into the airbox.

As for setting it up, Jack Frost at Holeshot Racing will be getting my bike when it's done. He's setup my mates B-King, my Blade, a mates race SRAD600 is going to him and so will my track NC30. Easy to pay and knows his shit about bikes, but be warned, he just wants to turbo everything.

Its for the track, i've decided to race it this year.

I dont plan to get big into it, i do mostly off road enduro. I'm just thinking this would be the best way to go to make the bike a bit quicker without spending alot of money.?? Although if i do really enjoy it i don't mind spending on it.

I dont have a ram air kit. this is where i'm lost. Can i buy the whole lot from someone, or where should i go to get the bits i need?

The kit is basically,

Aitbox with ram air snorkle, have a word with viper biker as he is getting some made
Fuel pump, ZXR 400 seems to be the obvious choice
A couple of simple brackets to lower the top rad 10mm to fit the ram air snorkle in

Then mod the carbs and off you go, i suggest some dyno time to get it right and maybe a ignitech CDI to get the best from it.

I am guessing you are going to be on the roads in NI?
If you are have you got your suspension sorted, as that may make more of a difference to lap times than power?

I won't be doing roads just the tracks. I had the bike on trackdays and i thought the suspension was not too bad, maybe different springs in front for now just to stop it bottoming out.

For now i'd just like to get the power up a bit and then when i feel the suspension is letting me down get it sorted then.
Viper biker is going to let me know when he has the ram air snorkels ready.
I,m bidding on a zxr 400 fuel pump on ebay now. Theres a few on is there any differance in them or will they all do?
I still dont really know what i need to get for the carbs, should it be a like a hrc kit from Rick Oliver?

Should have a price from him this weekend for the ram-air boxes. As for the carb set-up. I didn't use the Rick O carb kit, but I did have to do some changes to the carbs that I've listed above.

Cheers Tony, I was trying to find that thread, but was failing miserably. I though it was 126 jets all round, obviously not, it's 135's.

Chrisxr who was posting in that thread is that man I got the air-box from and he did the ground work on it and knows his stuff. I'll be doing exactly the same with my set-up as a base setting and then sending the bike off for fine tuning.
