K Forks on L bike?

Post by oldgreyandslow »

I think thats what I've got after seeing some photos on another thread.

The reg year, frame and engine number all tie in with my bike being an L model, however it appears I have the early K type forks

Its a bit of a pain as I want the bike to be "right" so I guess my options are:

Ignore it and ride the thing or hunt out some later forks if they make any difference to the handling?

Any thoughts or suggestions welcome

There K forks.

What color are the calipers? Gold are the K model too.

Ignore reg documents if it's an import.

Theres a sticker under the pillion seat which will tell you the model.

Later forks are 'better' as they are cartridge type design, but providing the forks are in good condition then I wouldn't go out of your way to get some.

Thanks

The calipers are grey the sticker unbder the seat says its an L model and this ties in with the frame and engine numbers.

From what I can see externally the forks look OK

Do you reckon its worth stripping them to check the internals?

Not unless you have forks that are knocking (worn bushes) or leaking seals.

Wait until the fork seals need replacing and then strip and replace the seals and inspect the bushes at the same time
