what price were they origional from honda compared to other bikes HRC cdis ?

I repeat my comment - My bike used to cut at 14.5k on the tacho before fitting the box, now revs over 15k. The dyno printout from TTS confirms a powertrace to about 15.25k. I dont know how accurate their dyno is but I doubt it would be out by 1000rpm like the tacho may well be.

What it does to the power, the advance curve, the life of the engine or the phases of the moon I dont know, but it does seem to raise the rev limit by the 1000rpm, which is what the claim is. I will try to do back to back when I have the bike dyno'd again but until then this is my last post on the subject.

i agree with bike_nut, i had tested my bike without that hrc sp unit, and tacho limits around 14k. but with it installed the pointer goes to 15k. thats all i can say about that im affraid! havent had much tampering with the bike since i droped it!

Was that a 'bum dyno' or can you actually prove that with back to back dyno's? Not that I'm doubting you, but facts are facts, hear-say was a pop group.

I could say I have a 90bhp NC30, but without facts to back it up, I'm full of shit. I'm just a sceptic at heart.

However, that's a bit of a misnomer.

If you go by the book prices at time of print.. the SP unit was just shy of 20,000 yen, thats about 160gbp in todays money.

The TT-F3 spark unit (ECU) was just over 30,000yen, about 240gbp, so only 80gbp more, not 288.88 like the UK dealer prices suggest.

Prices of the units wouldn't vary that much.. the ECU is probably only more expensive as it's a complete ECU.. not becuase it's TT-F3.

In order to sucessfully use the TT-F3 racing spec ECU you'd need all the other gubbins that goes with it (cams / exhausts / pistons et al) so there is no sense making it stupidly over-priced.. it's actually almost the same price as the stock ignition unit replacement was.

I gather the only reason it's so expensive now is that compared to the number of stock NC30's... full scale TT-F3 race bikes were much fewer and far-between so finding spares for them is much more difficult.

90hp NC30 :D

Mind you I was just going over the TT-F3 specs while researching ECU prices.. the NC30 was quotes at 78PS.. quite respectable!

ZXR was 80ps so not much in it.. between the two i'd imagine it'd be quite negliable.. however, the ZXR does use FCR's which dont' have the same CVK lag when ridden by a pro... I forget who'se building an FCR NC30 trackbike on here (it's in the owners thread)... interested to see how they get on with them in the 30!

isnt the NC30 15500RPM stock?

i have my ignitech set at 14500? with tacho correction as it was way out in comparision to my laptop readout, it sooner go with a digital reading over a analogue.

this arguments been had MANY times on here, with myself involved, im still a sceptic,

Yes it removes the 180KPH restriction,
BUT doesnt do anything noticible else,

what i dont understand is WHY honda & HRC went to the effort of developing something as technical as what a 10p resistor could do. it weighs a bomb over that of a 2gram resistor, HRC (Honda Race Corporation) are well known for developing race parts which are light weight this to me is just a piece of exotica for road users and nothing more IMO

for the record i have fuck loads of resistors to de restrict the NC30 180KPH limit you want one let me know, i gave a hand full away at cosford this year.

This was the point i was trying to make earlier on in this thread, people are under the misconception that a HRC CDI works with the more common HRC carb kit that Rick O also sells. That HRC carb kit is the SS/SP kit and as far as the manual is leading us to belive its meant to work with a stock CDI + the SP box which may or may not raise the rev limit. Id like to belive it does as surely the SS/SP bikes had a higher rev limit than the road bikes????? However this needs testing so we can finally put this theory to bed but tested like so,

1st run - Stock bike
2nd run - Stock bike + SP box
3rd run - SP carbs
4th run - SP carbs + SP box
