Would you use these bearings?

Returned them but the vendor has told me that all the replacements are the same.
It looks like the babbitt is not applied properly.
The vendor called me and said that they had got the opinions of 2 "mechanics" and both said they would use them.
Granted it's only on the back of the bearing,the surface next to the crankshaft looks to be fine,
but I can't help but be suspicious of the bearing coating all over.
Clearances must be affected with this coating missing.
I got a refund and I'm going to try another vendor but my rebuild has been stalled.
Any opinions?

You did the right thing. if in doubt walk away. At worst you delay by a week or so, at best you save your engine.

Maybe it is your pictures but they look fine to me?

order them from somewhere else cathal, see what they come back looking like, if they the same then fit them if not then it was worth the worry.

You wouldn't be concerned with the babbitt missing off the outer surface of the bearing?
All the other bearings are fully coated.

The babbit is microns thick and won't make a noticeable difference to clearance. I'd use them personally, but of course you need to be 100 percent happy with yourself

Upon closer inspection of the bearings I am replacing,they are exactly the same as the ones in the photos above. Obviously, that's how they are,so in they go.
