Chinese Stator Cover
Just seen these on ebay, if anyone buys one give a review please. Im generally not a fan of Chinese parts but from the photo it looks ok.

Hi dd,
Does look good. What £30 delivered, to get rid of crash damage etc, not bad!
Be interesting to hear a review. Accuracy of moles and how well surfaces mate, does colour match oem, quality and durability of units etc.
Cheers

Re: Chinese Stator Cover
Yep the 3 main things I would think about would be placement of holes, brittleness of the alloy and surface level of the machined edge, best tested on some glass, maybe a glass coffee table would show if that area was straight? The colour would be nice if it was right but if its close enough Im sure you would not notice too much once on the bike.dunno really, but it is interesting to me due to some er.. built in scrapes I got free with my bike. Now if they can do the other side at a decent price it would be interesting.

Hi dd,
Thinking about it, the carbon covers by jap4 looks good, and I'd personally be happier with quality oem
covers on the bike, with added carbon protectors on top, rather than worry about possible hairline weak points in Chinese copies.
Just my own OCD preferences I guess!
Cheers

Re: Chinese Stator Cover
Yep well thats an answer, as they say "the cheap man always buys twice" but it is an interesting alternative and maybe worth a look. Myself, I would go oem if possible, this is borne out by the fact I have recently purchased at great expense new oem type 7 fairings from mister Honda rather than go Chinese (I tried to get good used oem but got no replies anywhere), the cost of a new oem nose cone is more than the cost of a full set of Chinese stuff, but hey, its my baby.. At least now I can finally do that TT Legends on my spare fairings..

Hiya dd,
Christ, that's great, can one buy new fully painted up oem fairings from Honda still?!
They must have finished all production years ago, and once they are gone off the shelf now, they are gone?
I've only ever tried David silvers, and they said you can only get unpainted oem
Fairings.
I'd love to save up and get a full set sometime. I'm keeping the nc29 as well. Not spec'ed up at all, but looking to bit by bit over the years.
Cheers

Re: Chinese Stator Cover
Well you can still get some and it really depends on the scheme you want, expect to faint at the price though. Although I did wait 3 months for the rears, I got the feeling they were not going to arrive but D Silver really pulled out the stops to get some. I only got them bit by bit due to their price but if you have a lump sum to spend its more cost effective to buy another bike with good fairings in the first place. I was very lucky with the upper cowl, I bid and won a brand new unused and boxed one on ebay, being about 1/3rd the retail price and that saved quite a bit of money.
Got to say I knoiw I wont get my money back if I sold the bike but its not the point, I really dont care about making money its just how i want the bike to be, although Im sure it would help sell the bike if need be. Trouble is its the only transport I have so I expect to get the odd scratch, no matter how I look after it. Just dont drop the thing hopefully..

Hi dd,
The bike must look amazing with the oem replacment fairings on. Any pics? 8)
I think you would get a good chunk of the cost back, if you were ever to sell the bike. Also goes to show a well looked after bike, not just the value of the fairings themselves. More of a collector's purchase, than trade it! 8)
Cheers

Re: Chinese Stator Cover
The bikes in bits at the moment waiting for new head bearings to arrive and to be honest may wait unti the weather warms up before installing the new fairings, due to me going out at 4 or 5 in the morning for work, there may be ice on the roads, so would be a pain if I took a tumble early on. But its like a new pair of shoes I suppose, once you scrape them it dont matter. Once I get them on I will post a pic. I would like to add that the other bits of the bike are fine, including engine, dont want anyone thinking Im redressing an old dog..
edit: just to give you a sneak peak and actually prove there wont be much difference to my home painted and imagework decaled bike, here is a brand new side panel next to my homebrew used version..

Hi dd,
Happy new year mate! 8)
I can't see anyone thinking you would be dressing up an old dog!
Just show them the ds recieptsmfor the fairings. That would be enough to prove the bike is the real deal.
From the photos, I can't tell which is which. I imagine in real life and sunlight, the unused oems would shine out.
it would be really interesting to see the progress on your bike, so keep up the good work with blogging it all 8)
Cheers
