the point is that you still need to rebuild any USD you fit to suit the bike.. so the cost for the performance is not really worth it.
If you are minted..then go for it. If you want your bike to work well then rebuild the oe forks.

USD are for looks only IMO and for me looks don't make you go faster, ride safer or pick up the chicks...

That price for a USD front-end is in my end of the world totally out of proportion. Theres a set of forks on ebay from a ZXR at 100 sterling atm. just as an example.

That's my point exactly! That's why I didn't put prices on it.

But on top of that, you have to factor in fitting. At the least you'll need a fitting kit from Rick Oliver. If you go it on your own, you'll have to factor in machining costs for the steerer, and spindles/spacers, brakes.

You don't really need machining for brakes spacers etc. if you get a complete front end, maybe a different bearing with other inner/outer dimensions would do. Providing the stem is long enough.

It's not quite that straight forward. Speak to Rick Oliver, he'll sort you out.

I'm not really considering doing it.

I'm just saying that if you get a newer front end, it might not be that costly at all, compared to rebuilding the old forks, old nc30 calipers, master cylinders etc.

With newer stuff that wont need any rebuilds for more years to come.

There is no way a Hayabusa front end is going to work on a small 400cc bike.
