HRC number board/spec/difference question .
After watching the amazing YouTube video Michael put up I noticed something about the number boards and the colours.
Towards the end there is a very brief look at ( what I believe ) is the SS/SP vfr400r and the full blown HRC F3 RVF, the SS/SP bike has black boards were as the F3 has red and if we're to believe the road bikes colour schemes resembled the race bikes would that be the reason why the first two colour schemes the vfr400r road bikes had red boards?
Then at some stage there is a change in rules and F3 bikes have to be based on road bikes rather than custom made bikes ( isn't that right ?) so did the boards change again ?
The reason I ask is if you look at the sticky post about HRC F3 nerds so bikes have red boards ( just so happen to be the HRC RVFs ), some have black boards ( I believe are SS/SP bikes ) and some have blue boards ( are these the road based HRC F3 bikes ? )

in this video at 6 minutes in it shows what i believe to be the hrc ss/sp bike, it's got black number boards, oe plastics, stock system with the can cut off and a freer flowing one on.
which is what i believe this to be, another ss/sp bike.

then the video shows the full blown hrc f3 bike which it this one, complete with red boards, is this were honda got the red boards for the first two colour schemes for the vfr400r road bikes

and the road schemes

but at some stage the rules for f3 change and your no longer aloud to run custom built bikes ( look at the frame ?), f3 moves to road based bikes which i believe to be these, road based frames, blue number boards.

and the nose cone martin found for sale in japan.

Re: HRC number board colour question .
Think im following this, so your saying the early F3 bikes with red boards is the design the road bikes were based on, then the F3 rules changed which meant the F3 bikes had to be based on road bikes yet the F3 bikes had blue boards and your wondering why the blue boards??????

Re: HRC number board colour question .
yeah so are the blue boards for the new class of f3 bike based around road bikes ?
and as far as i knew i'd never seen an ss/sp bike althought i'm trying to base my castrol bike on one ( i cant do an f3 bike as i dont have the finance or connections to get the right parts which are now like rocking horse shit were-as an ss/sp bike is very easily doable ), until micheal put that video up and i started thinking of all this, and if i'm right ive been staring at the H.A.R.T. bike and it's been an ss/sp bike all along

My bluefox nc23 would support your blue board for road based F3 bikes theory.

Re: HRC number board/spec/difference question .
I just looked through the '92 SS/SP HRC manual and the only difference I could see was the SP bike wasn't permitted to run an HRC front wheel, so could the SP but a lesser tuned catogory ,ie bikes with a can and the lights removed ,and the SS was slightly higher but not as highly tuned as the F3.

I think SS is Super Sports & SP Sports Production, so I would take it that the SP would be the lower class?
