Re: Carbon kevlar engine case covers Nc29
Is this in a carbon or kevlar finish? and please correct me if im wrong here but being a shop/supplier why do you need a minimum of 10 orders? i mean anyone can organize a group purchase and get them at that price, i thought the idea of being a shop is that you buy in bulk and hold stock for the public to buy at a profit to yourself.Gavin jap4 wrote:I have three definate orders on these with people waiting to put a deposit down so if you are interested please let me know and we can get some made
Im not having a dig i think what you do at Jap 4 is great but in a group buy which is what this is at the end of the day no one makes a profit from it, the people involved just get what they want at a decent price.

Re: Carbon kevlar engine case covers Nc29
Hate to say it but DMs right, I would like some and for a gratis set would happily have sent you my spare casings as once you have the mould you will be making them for not a lot of money going forward.
A discount from £110-£80 no casi gs for a few months and a week trying to get all the mould crap off them isn't a good deal.
I have it on good authority that cost of materials for these (that's a carbon/Kevlar mix) will cost no more than £30 once the initial moulds are made.
Like DM says I think the product you bring to uk riders is great but I also have to agree about this item as a bulk buy, someone somewhere will be making good money from these moulds

We need a minium order as the guys who will be making these need to know their is the demand for them otherwise they will be spending alot of time and money (making a set of moulds) that may not get any use. Im also only a small company that cannot outlay £1000s on just one item of stock that may or may not sell. These are not available from any company at the moment as the last one that I know who made them has gone bust so they will be made from scratch.
At the price I will be doing them to you guys I will be making a profit I would not do it if I was not I will also be getting a set in stock to put in my ebay shop also.
On the finish I will check if they can be done in all kevlar and see if this changes the cost at all.

Not a problem if you dont want to lend the casings I will source some through contacts and they would be cleaned up before being returned. As a small company I cant afford to give a set away but can do a set at cost (price is not set yet as we have not made any yet to get a proper cost, price listed is a ball park fig)
cost of materials may or may not be around that price I would not know until a set has been made and proper costing has been done not a guess. You also have to take into account the time they take to make as staff have to be paid and you also have to take into account the shipping of the parts to me in the UK from europe (where they will be made) all these things add to the cost of the item and its true bottom line cost.
If their is not enough interest in these then I wont be having them made as it would not be worth the time and money of doing it which is where the min order of 10 sets comes into play and as you guys are the main forum for the 400s its why I do offer bulk buys to you so that you get a discount on the retail price.

Re: Carbon kevlar engine case covers Nc29
Hi Gavin,
I'm a bit late posting onto this thread, hope it's still in progress!
The R1 covers look fantastic, the same onto cbr400s would look just as good I imagine.
Good of you to be looking at these add one for classic sports bikes as well.
If they are carbon, and well made second skin accurate, then i can't see the price being excessive, for the cost of designing, and making the product from scratch.
Sorry chaps, some silly questions tho:
Q1) What's the point the point of them, besides looking cool?
Q2) Dosen't it hold in heat, like a thermal blanket?! Not desirable surely?
Q3) Also, If one as a slide, it's a expensive replacement job?
Q4) Does it protect as well as r&g case protectors?
Hope you can advise, I'm intrigued
Cheers
Martin
