Front Wheel Question ?
Hello,
I've slowly been fitting FZR 400 1988 3EN1 running gear into my latest project ?
It's a Yamaha R1-Z 250 cc 2 Stroke frame that I managed to pick up cheep but thats it so far ... but I do have plans for this one that will make it diffrent from my other none standard R1-Z
.....
The FZR running gears finally fitted but the front wheel rims damaged were it looks like someones bumped up a curb with a flat tyre and the discs are shot !
I picked up a set of FZR 400 1986 1WG wheels and discs but the discs are diffrent ( no offset ) but the wheels look the same !
Both front wheels have F36 cast into them ?
Is F36 the part number ?
Just checking realy as I've fitted the wheel and all seems OK
Fred.
A picture of the FZR1-Z so far & the TZR1-Z :D

Re: Front Wheel Question ?
i got a set of discs with no offset aswell, they are for the earlier model i think, and yes f36 is the part number, i think there were difference in the forks on the earlier models so that is why the discs dont fit!
Evil will probably know for definite, sure he'll be along soon! :D

Re: Front Wheel Question ?
Sorry guys I don't know the offsets on the earlier model bikes.
The wheel is probably going to be the same as Yamaha tend to have interchangeable parts I think F36 is the model code.
I can say the disks for the 3en1 are 285mm dia and that they changed to 298mm dia for the 3en2.
You may want to measure the caliper bolt centers and if they're 100mm you can fit the later blue spot calipers to the forks.

Re: Front Wheel Question ?
The wheels are the same on all pre 3tj(90 onwards) models. The discs on the early 1wg(up to 87) were flatish and used dual piston calipers. The discs on the 3en1(88) and 2tk(87) are dished and use four piston calipers. You'll have to find another set of 3en1/2tk discs as I don't think any other models shared them.
From memory the blue pots wont work as the 3en1 uses 88mm mount spacings.
