NC30 Electrical Worries

Guys.....

Just a quick question.....

On the '30 I have the previous monkey brained owner has chopped off the pick up sensor 4 way plug and replaced it with a chocolate blok connector.

This has melted on one terminal and the rest of the wires have fallen out. They are all tarnished and need stripping back.

Due to my concerns of the validity of the entire loom I have purchased another to replace the lot. I have brought a replacement plug, actually 3 as the ECU is also hard wired into the loom so I will have to replace the plugs on this. Nothing a bit of soldering wont fix.

However I'm thinking of replacing the pick up coils for two reasons.

1. The wires need strippng back and I will end up having to splice more wire in and it will look shite and will require more work.

2. There are a couple of items on the bay which are cheap enough to make it a case of effort vs reward. Least amount of effort for maximum reward, for those who didn't understand.

My question for this is that there are a set from an NC35 which are cheaper than the ones fro the NC30. Will these still be a straight swap or will I need the NC35 ECU?

The ignition pick ups between the 30 and 35 are different. The nc30 uses 2 pick ups, the 35 only a single pick up.

You'll need to use the loom and cdi off the same model as the pick up system you decide to use.

I reckon the rvf loom and cdi is far more robust and better made than the poor old nc30 electrics (the nc30 cdi is riveted together, wires are prone to breaking inside the loom etc), it appears to be a big generational change between the models.
