see the thing is...i dont actually know if my reg/rec is dead...i just dont know how to test it to see if it is or isnt dead...and the way the haynes manual is describing doesnt make sense to me...i mean maybe my old bettery is the one thats fucked and its not charging...maybe the reg/rec is working....ive fully charged my new battery now, shall i test it with the current reg/rec that i have on the bike? and see if my charging system is working correctly? i mean if my battery volts is above 14v..then im guessing my charging system is working, so maye i could just plug the new battery in and test it for 5 mins or so?

Reconnect the rect/reg and the battery and try starting the engine. With a new fully charged battery it should crank enthusiastically and start easily. At idle revs with no headlight on the battery voltage should be somewhere around 13 volts. Turn ON the headlights with engine idling and battery voltage should drop to closer to 12 volts, rev engine above 5000 rpm and battery voltage should rise to 13-14 volts but no higher than 15 volts. If battery voltage does not exceed 15 volts then turn the headlights OFF and run engine again at 5000 rpm to check that the battery voltage remains at 13-14 volts and does not exceed 15 volts.

If the battery voltage exceeds 15 volts at any time I would suspect a dud rect/reg.

If you cannot get 13-14 volts at the battery when the engine speed is above 5000 rpm then it must be a faulty rect/reg as you claim to have 40-50 volt AC from each phase of the alternator.

okay. i just tried that with my new battery.. and at idle im getting just over 13v on idle. @5000 revs, with headlights on im getting 14.05v, with headlights off @5000 rpm im getting 14.5v. i only did this for a minute or so as it satrted to raid like a bitch so had to go inside :P. does this mean my charging system is actually working orrrr....?

Exactly the same. That's why it's called a reg/rec. It regulates the voltage (caps it at a value that won't overcharge the battery) and rectifies it (converts from AC to DC).

so what you suggest? even though i was getting 14.5v on 5k rpm. it may be exceeding 15v at higher rpm hence the cut off or what?

could i have a constant discharge issue? maybe voltage leak somewhere in the bike?

Have you checked the main stopcock under the seat? It might need a new o-ring.
