Help with Chinese Fairing Choice and Tank Painting

Post by lloydspencer »

My current fairings are in a very shabby condition and thats how they were when I got the bike.

I will be looking at replacing them in the very near future.

As much as i would like to save and wait and pick u good condition originals or repaint some. I may do that in the future but for now I just want some cheap, ready painted fairings.

My first question is what scheme to go for. The ones on ebay look a bit poo to be honest. TheCBR urban tiger scheme wont stand up to the original, I dont want the movistar theme as so many chavs on moped have that. I dont want the most recent repsol scheme as that is after the era of the bike. My only option is the West scheme but so many bikes seem to have had that. Can anyone point me in the direction of any other schemes?

If I have to go for the west scheme. Does anyone have any pictures so that I know how to get the tank painted and what stickers I will need to get made up.

Thanks

Some of the chinese/hong kong sellers will do whatever you want at the same price. Just e-mail them pictures of what you want. Or buy them in a plain colour and get the graphics made up locally, most sign writing firms will be able to sort the vinyl out for you.
I was toying with the idea of a Simoncelli replica.

:plus: I am in a position similar to you, and have been in touch with a HK seller for this set:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/320786244154?it ... 23&vxp=mtr

but painted in the RRK colours - kinda like these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Body-Kit-Fairin ... 4ab0e67249

They have quoted me 14-18 days to complete, and 2 weeks to ship over here.

With Christmas post and Chinese New Year (Jan 23, where China kinda shuts down for a week) just round the corner, I plan on ordering my customised fairings in about February.

Where about are you based? I'd be happy to combine the purchase if it saves on shipping/postage charges.

I have spoke to a company called PARTS 4 BIKES on ebay.

I asked them if they can paint my tank as well and they said no probs ship it over and we will do it for free.

Only problem is posting is going to cost £125-150 to ship air freight! Sea is lots cheaper but can take 3 months and there is zero tracking.

Still toying with the idea.

You could get it painted in the UK for that money, why risk sending it half way round the world. They'd probably sting you for import tax on it when it comes back aswell.
