Headlight covers - what are the options?
Hiya all,
Re:Headlight covers - what are the options for a nc29?
I ride through a woody stretch of roads for 30 miles. Cracking roads. The only problem is the bike gets covered with splattered flies!
I'm sick of picking out the flies from the gaps around the headlights, recessed in the fairings.
Are there any headlight covers out there that cover the whole fox eyes in one sheet? (ie Like the old style gsxrs etc.) That way I can just wipe the bugs straight off in one sweep, rather than this extended use of tooth picks etc.
Hopefully the covers can screw straight on, using the same holes as the original fox eyes fairing piece.
Hope you can advise.
Cheers
Martin

Re: Headlight covers - what are the options?
Update:
1) Spoke to skidmarx:
Helpful chap - remembered the gull arm! 8)
They only do 2 pieces, ie one circle for each headlight:
Slightly bigger than the headlights
Held on by 3m sticky plasters
Can't easily do a one off for me. The issues are:
The fox eyes are not flat, but the fairing is curved with a double bend, or something like that.
It would cost to much to set up.
2) Spoke to pyramid:
They are ordering from 3rd party, as such an old model, and will emial me pictures when they get it in stock.
It is not clear if the part is a 1 peice or a 2 piece.

Hi rrn,
Aha, someone else who is interested in this! 8).
Sure, the original looks dramatic, and that's the whole point of the design
But it would be nice to have options 8)
Cheers

Can you not buy a sheet of clear plastic and make your own, bend it to shape with gentle use of a hot air gun? Or use one for the fox eye cbr 900?

Hi db,
Is the cbr900 fox eyes and cbr400 fox eyes the same dimensions?
I'm sure I've seen one piece headlight covers for the cbr900!
This idea is alive again! 8)
Cheers

Re: Headlight covers - what are the options?
There was a cover made that followed the shape of the nc29 surround, I remember bidding on a used one on ebay a couple of years ago. Not seen one since though.
