There are two types of derestriction box, both do the same thing, remove the 180km/h speed limit.

They connect at different places though.

On a JDM model theres a circuit board inside the clocks that is triggered at 180km/h. From the speedo theres a short patch lead with a 3 pin plug that connects to your wiring loom.. one type of speedo box plugs in there, if you have that then the lead from the clocks is redundant and not connected.

The other type plugs into the ignition box (ECU) and is usually floating around nearby.

The final option is to modify the clocks.. everything is connected as normal but the circuit board inside the clocks is altered so it never triggers.. this mod you also cannot see without taking apart the clocks.

You can also solder in a resistor instead of using the 'box' so if you see one of these then thats the speed-off mod.

If you don't see any disconnect the clocks patch lead.. bike should misfire over 5500rpm. If it does then the only way to see if the clocks have been derestricted is to open them (there only screwed together, no seal) or buy a new speed-off box or a 2p resistor and solder it in.

does the box that plugs into the ecu/cdi offer any power gains (assuming it actually has one n i havnt been fooled
