NC30 - Removing rocker arms

Hey all,

Has anyone got any tips for removing rocker arm bolts? They are pretty exposed and after 22 years of road crap/rain etc. they are stuck fast! Have tried heat and penetrating oil but still no dice. Trying to be careful not to strip the heads and turn it into more of a pig of a job, but anymore brute force and that is where it is heading

Any ideas?

And for bonus points, if someone could confirm the part number for these bolts, that would be sweet. I think it's:

12205-MR8-300

Are you talking about the plug that seals the hole that the rocker shaft goes through,allenbolt.
if so i think impact driver is the answer.

David Silver says discontinued, but it looks like a pretty non specific cap, so should be able to source something

If they are not damaged i wouldn't wory about replacing them,
put the old ones back in.I have in the past.

They are starting to get chewed from me trying to get them out!

Ok, I'm on the verge of losing it.

These bolts will not move at all. I have now stripped 2 heads. None of the usual trick will make them budge. Have tried heat, oil, impact driver, hammering torx bits in, easy outs etc. and they will not move whatsoever.

I'm pretty certain that I'm going to have to replace all of these once they are out, but since I am destroying them in the process of removing them, I have no ide what they look like to source replacements (honda part is discontinued)

Does anyone have a photo/specs of these little cap bolts?

SUCCESS!!!!! Man, I have never had bolts this stubborn before. Looks like I'm going to have to drill out every one to 1/4" and then get the largest easyout I can in without damaging the threads. 2 down, 6 to go.

Seems like there is a green thread locking compound on the threads which might have something to do with why they are so tough.

Anyway, I can figure out the replacements from the bit I have left.
