Brake Master Cylinder replacement

Hi there,

Just a quick one before I go diving into the master cylinder and F_ck it up.

Does anyone have images or instructions on how to replace the front brake master cylinder components for an NC30? Is it a hard job to do in a rating of 1-5, 5 being mechanic only job?

I’m reasonably competent with a screw driver and spanner in hand, and the parts don’t look like they are too technical, however it is the front brake system that I will likely need working in the proper manner, so would rather not take the risk if it’s something left to the expert.

Any advice appreciated.

I would say a 2/5, it's fairly simple.

You'll need a pair of external circlip pliers to take the m/c apart.

Make sure everything's spotlessly clean when you put it all together. Brake cleaner is your friend here!
A bit of dirt or muck in the wrong place will compromise all your hard work...

Yes, it's quite easy, just take time.

Brake fluid will leak so drain the resevoir (cup) put rags around to catch excess fluid.

As cammo said.. a pair of circlip pliers (1.99 jobbies of ebay will suffice for a 1 off job) to remove the circlip.

Basically.

Take brake lever off, remove circlip, pull out insides, replace with new.

Put in circlip, put on brake lever, fill up resevoir and bleed brake system.
