need help here: rvf400 pro arm convert to vfr 800 pro arm?

Post by joepadilla »

Hello guys. I'm new here. currently owning nc 29 cbr 400rr. I have a big question to you guys, specially those folks that has a habit of trying something new, customizing and modifying their bikes. I have big plan coming up' to a rvf 400 as my project bike. It's a 1996 nc35. Now here is my first plan. I want to make the rear wheel to become wider than the stock wheel. So i have to change the pro arm attached to the bike. The question is, can I use a 1999 vfr 800 pro arm to it, including the all set of the wheel(w/ mag ,sprocket and chain).?
Please guys..I really need answer guys or any suggestion.. Thanks!!!!

You can already buy a converted hub to fit in the NC35 swining arm from Rick Oliver that will allow you to bolt the VFR750/800 wheel onto the bike

There are users on here running the NC30 with the standard VFR wheel.

Email Rick Oliver and ask him for some more info. Theres also a few users on here that have converted bikes.

Wondering why you are converting it anyhow? There doesn't seem any advantage?

Yeah you right Amae' You know what, I thing I can afford this wheels the''VFR 800 Carrozaria wheels'' If still available! the cost by set(front/rear) is like almost a single sided wheels from BST..I wish that they are still available in the market..

Guys' first of all I have a Big respect for those who already made their project bike you've done awesome job..I "Salute you".
Now this is my project bike that's why I will spend a lot of effort on this, like I will change the parts that I think will Improve the bikes performance and looks'. Please understand me I'm asking you some question to complete my project'...and Thank you for giving me such a good ideas on this.
Specially. Thanks '' Neo" for your question. You made me think' so then I ask my self Why'? Well for me 400's are just fine. I'm not a tall guy like many of you guys here, 5' foot 7''weighing around 70kg. Plus here in Bangkok ow' Man traffic is usual, all year round is hot with a frequent rain. So if you go bigger than 400, it will toast your butt.
Now lets go back to that so called work shop..shall we! ;-)
For me doing a project bike is a big thing, cause if your rebuilding any brand of bike, after all your work has been done. The bike will be no longer holds the brand name that it used to be' It will represent your self, you're name' and you're pride!!!so guys please bare me if I will ask you more question, not a expert here' Thanks

Yes good luck with the conversion.

Some people prefer the look of the 'larger wheel / tyre' but with the 17" RVF wheel you can still get an excellent choice of tyre so there really isn't any performance improvement... maybe it will be slightly less with the larger tyre.

For the amount of money it costs to convert you could get a good rear shock and ohlins front forks with large brembo radial brakes and master cylinder... will be the biggest improvements to the bike for riding.
