NC30 engine painting?

Hey all,

I started stripping my spare NC30 engine at the weekend and want to get the whole thing repainted. Just wondering what the best way to paint these engines is? Looking to replicate the original colour and for something quite long lasting.

I read a thread on here about a Ford color spray can, but in my experience, rattle cans looks crap and don't last! Is this stuff really that good or are there other alternatives? Engine will be completely stripped.

Have you tried speaking to your local automotive paint shop?

They'll be able to give you the best advice.
I've used stuff out of a can, you really have to get a good coat of high temp primer before painting if you want a nice coat and shine.

From a can PJ1 /VHT is very good if you take your time doing it.

I've had many fantastic 'OEM' looking results.

'VHT engine enamel' - Search for this on eBay.

Flat Gold is a nice colour

Depends what paint your using.

The VHT / PJ1 engine paint is designed to be applied to bare metal with no primer so is really easy to get a cracking finish, just rub it all down (not 100% necessary for bare metal) just a nice surface thats got no bumps in it.

If you have existing paint with chips / flakes make sure to smooth it all down so its all level.. rub a finger over it to feel high / low spots. They'll show up with paint.

Once it's all rubbed down, rinse it over with meths to remove any grease.. let it dry out and paint... prefereably in a warm place with no wind or dust.
