Re: nc24 running issues
i checked for air leaks and there are none
the floats are a nats cock off 7mm so porbs 6.8 as they should be
its not so much that it wont idle cleanly its rock solid when its at 2k even when warm or even hot and its crept up if you turn it down to the right idle of 1.3k +/-100 it gets very very lumpy and stalls. i will take them back off and clean the passage ways off that you said about
the carbs are also in balance using a morgan carbtune what an arse of a job that is lol
looking at the speedo it shouldnt be to hard to set it back up as the speed light gives you the amount of preload the half black disc breaks a light gate at 50mph turning the light on so if i set it back to this it should work again, its a very odd feeling when your doing 20mph and the speedo still says 0

I don't think that will work so easy to set the speedo up but you can try it, i seem to remember trying that too. Let me know if you get it sorted.gissmo50 wrote:i checked for air leaks and there are none

2000rpm is a little high.. your opening the butterfly and not using the pilot circuits as much so you either have a blocked jets or something else isnt right.. you'll crack it.. those small pilot holes are often the cuprits.

Re: nc24 running issues
right it seems to be idling alot better now but still feels flat throught the revs untill it gets up top then the bike takes off is this normal as im not used to it i dont have anything to compare it to only my cbr600 sport and thats a completly diff animal the bike has a standard air box, rcv4's down pipes and collector which flow alot better and a viper endcan carbs are running 115's all around what would be the next two steps to put in to see if it helps if this is not normal..
cheers kyran

Re: nc24 running issues
it's only a 400 but should still pull really well through the gears.
Get it to a dyno operator and give it a power run / fuel air graph so you have an idea of where your currently at

Re: nc24 running issues
i think i have cracked my problem with the not pulling well, i was riding it like a 600 not reving it through the gear and short shifting after i changed my riding style to suit the bike yesterday i must say its very quick and pulls hard once you get it in the power im still going to get it to a dyno at somepoint and once i do i will put up the graph so there is some sort of benchmark for rcv4 colectors mated with an endcan.

It should still pull pretty good through the gears though, I found it mainly the zx4 that doesn't have so much go down low and you have to keep it in the high revs to get the most out of it.
with the v4's i'm tending to have them at 5-6k in the appropriate gear for general riding that gives enough so if i crack it open it pulls on more.

Re: nc24 running issues
dyno is going to have to wait as the engine came back out today due to the exhaust stud i had repaied has been cowboyed back in with chemical metal and has come back out wont be using that garage or listening to that friend again lol the engine is now off with an old family friend who is a master welder and is gonna try to build the mounting poing back up with weld drill and tap it failing that i will just swap the head out with a good one then will take it to a dyno.

buggar replacing the head.. gaskets are too pricey.gissmo50 wrote:dyno is going to have to wait as the engine came back out today due to the exhaust stud i had repaied has been cowboyed back in with chemical metal and has come back out wont be using that garage or listening to that friend again lol the engine is now off with an old family friend who is a master welder and is gonna try to build the mounting poing back up with weld drill and tap it failing that i will just swap the head out with a good one then will take it to a dyno.
Tap it out to a 10mm bolt instead of an 8 (M8 tap)

Re: nc24 running issues
couldnt tap it out there was nothing left to tap so we took the block to a ally welder and he has remade the stud mount drilled it and tapped it good as new the last guys that said they had "fixed it" had drilled so much away there was nothing left of the stud placement it was butchered i get the engine back on sunday and will button it all up and try it again as that header pipe was blowing quite badly it seems.
