Stock Sprockets and Chain Specs?

Can anyone tell me the Stock specs for a 1988 Honda CBR400RR, it's a J tri-arm the frame is NC23-102****

Need to know Stock Front sprocket teeth number, stock rear sprocket teeth number and as far as I'm aware those and the chain is 525 pitch? how many links is a stock chain?

at the moment I think stock was 15T front, 40T rear and 525 106link but Im not sure about rear sprocket and chain links, again im asking for what they are stock(mine are changed i think and i don't like front sprockets changed, just my thing, only just got the bike but either way I want renthal sprockets and chain just need to know pitch and links etc) thanks in advance! :P

chain and tyres were advisory on a recent MOT so really want to get them done and might as well do both tyres and change sprockets same time as chain, thinking TOP of the line chain, i always go for overkill, the approach has meant ive never had anything fail on a bike :grin:

Fit a 1988 Honda CBR400RR too don't they?

Yes those are the correct (stock) tyre sizes, it's also possible to put a 160 width tyre but this is your preference.

Also the sprockets are 15 front and 42 rear (stock for the RRJ 1988) whereas 40 rear was stock for the RRK 1989 but the chain and sprockets are interchangeable between the J and K models, and the chain is 525 and 106 links. Another option is a 520 chain conversion if you fancy some weight saving and less power loss from the drive chain (though will probably wear quicker), if interested I'd talk to Graeme France.

Ok thanks, yea currently the previous owner had put on smaller front and larger rear sprockets, and this thing accelerates like you wouldnt believe, i had a 400 before but this thing is something else, doesnt help when it sounds like the god of thunder with the aftermarket exhaust as well lmao...head turner isnt what it is, EVERY SINGLE head turning is more like it, don't think this'll be good for chain life and commuting to work as well though and fuel mileage lol ;) I've only been to 6000 rpm as well, this would be great in SA where i used to do 120mph minimum and SA cops don't bother chasing bikes :drool:

Got pulled by the police first km i did too lol, it's got some extra light controls, i didnt realise and used the standard honda ones which no longer work or something im used to a permanent low beam, so i was riding at night with no lights, at least i know now and they didnt fine me etc that was a close one lmao...
