Oil Filter question
Quick question..
I did an oil/filter change yesterday and used a genuine Honda filter. The side of the filter recommends torquing it up to between 24-30nm !
Is that correct? Pretty much every oil filter I have ever changed is ~10nm or until the seal seats and then another 1/4 - 1/2 turn. Any tighter and the seal could distort.
Are Honda oil filters a special breed?
Cheers
Luke

Re: Oil Filter question
Every oil filter I've ever changed, car/bike I've tightened by hand with a bit of emery paper for grip, never had a problem.

Re: Oil Filter question
10 is correct [7'/lbs] according to the manual for the original [larger] filter.
Is the higher torque figure for the later type [smaller]
I am using up my stock of the larger originals, so not sure.
Good question though, I don't see the need to be that tight, never known one to fall off, quite the opposite when trying to undo them at times.
I believe Honda have rationalised their stock, so there are now fewer different filters but are common but to more models.
