So your taking the bike apart,
Here's a hot tip, if you ever remove the battery from your bike. Don't leave it to rest on the floor of your garage.
The natural magnetism of the earth will drain the battery over a period of time.
And once the battery gets below 12v it will start to degenerate internally.

Unfortunately, the first thing I always do with a non-starting issue. Is load test the battery.
Unless I know the battery is within specs 100% I try not to go any further.

Would like to see the evidence for your natural magnetism drain batteries claim. I prefer the text book based internal discharge explanation myself. Either way a lead/acid type battery should not be left for long periods without float/trickle charging.

Anyway, regardless of how batteries drain, whether it's natural magnetism, animal magnetism or the Lynx Effect, here's my latest poser:

What fuse-box do I have? Because it's not the NC30, and it's not the NC35!
Left to right it reads: 10A, 15A, 10A, 15A.
Another one for the thinking cap :)

My NC30 fuse box reads 10A fan, blank, 15A head light, 10A St. IGN. and 15A tail/meter/horn.

Oh ok, I assumed it was my bike and it'd been re-wired by a dodgy previous owner. Guess I'll stick with it then.

I have worked for 22 years for a company called Exide - you may have heard of them? - as a Field Service, then Applications, now Product Development Engineer, and between this thread and the other slow turning engine thread, I have rarely read so much crap as you've posted.

Don't get offended now, but have you got any real clue what you're talking about?? or did you just read something on the internet and interpret it how you saw fit?

I particularly liked your Earth's magnetism discharges your battery line... that gave all the guys in the office here a right good laugh! :peace:

I have just shinned up the highest tree in the village and tied my battery to it in the hopes that it will stay up longer.
Perhaps charging more often would have be easier than tree climbing :-)

That's odd, my UK bike, and the manual, and Haynes [Jap] says different, and I was told all wired the same.
Mine is fused in a different manner,

Are later models wired in a different way?
