Looking good mate.

Mine is music to my ears, the open carb mods certainly make the bike sound angry!

I suspect you'll have it half sorted, but If you want some help with a base setup send me a mail. What needles did you end up using?

The carb mods don't make mine any more prone to being flooded, perhaps the dry fuel bowls didn't help? Mine is usually well behaved if proper starting technique is adhered to.

angry isn't the word ,it sounds like it's going to jump up off the floor and round house kick me in the kisser ,deffo not like any other nc30 i've heard and not like it used to sound like with the "normal" airbox it had before

you gave me the base set up on the old forum or by mail i can't remember, you said

148f/150r
8zf needles
1mm at rear
.5mm at front
40 pilots
idle 2 3/4 turns

i used,
150f/152r
8zf needles
1mm at rear
.5mm at front
38 pilots
and haven't had it running long enought to see what it idles like,i'm just bloody happy it's started lol

and your bang on why it flooded, dry carbs didn't help, the carbs being balanced by a muppet that only half knows what he's doing and a small air leak on the front right which meant when it did start it ran on 3 and fouled the plugs when i tryed to restart.......i should bloody well know better lol

no track days booked as yet because i still need things for it,and chain, sprockets and discs and pads, then it's out for a very wobbley run around the track to make sure every thing is still attached and working, and a dry break fuel line thing

And don't forget a mouth full of fuel too LOL.

This is by far the meanest sounding VFR I've ever heard. The whole open air-box is nuts. You can hear the slides move and the air being sucked in around the shorty stacks. I can't wait to see how the bike goes. The track is gonna get a whole lot more interesting now. Back to back dyno's when you're finished and I'm finished will be good for a laugh (although I expect you to get more out of it). Hopefully I'll be done by August as my bike is going racing again in September.

so i have until august to get the rest of the parts is that what your saying ?

to be honest mate i think chrisxr's way is the best as how many snorkeled V4's do you see racing and you know the only reason i saw this through to the end was i had the modded carbs and just needed the jet kit to finish, then again the bits i modded i have replaced to i could end up going down the snorkel route when i'm tried rebuilding motors as i've no air filter lol

cam,
what did you do with the rear head crankcase breather,i used a bit of garden hose and a round metal tin but that was only short term,i wanted to ask you what you have done, and what did you do for the over flow under the tank, the one that normally drips ontop of the airbox lid and emptys into a hose on the left hand side, the HRC manual uses a catch tank like the radiator ones but i'm just curious to see what you've done

anybody want more pictures ?
