The trick is not to over tighten the lower clamps as they will distort the rubber, there should be a spacer on the clamp to stop you doing this but most of the NC's ive had lost em at some point in their lifes

But your vid was bout 3mins!!porndoguk wrote:My bikes been stood cold for about 3 weeks as ive just changed my coolant and exhaust so it was stone cold and still only took 30 odd seconds :Dlukemillar wrote:I found the biggest difference between this job being a complete pig and a 1 min job was fitting them to a warm bike i.e warm supple rubbers vs. a cold/standing in the garage for a while bike. Some people heat them in warm water first.
I fitted new rubbers here (mid winter) and it took my forever. However, at the track on a warm bike, I popped them off and on in about 30 secs! Obviously don't get it too hot else you will burn yourself.

You guys are in the middle/end of summer anyway! :D TBH, I haven't had a problem until I fitted new rubbers, but it was damn cold in the garage.

Re: Howto: Re-Fit NC30 VFR400 Carburators (VIDEO)
I literally just put some new rubbers on on Monday - The 'original' ones that were on the bike looked like radiator hose - no wonder I had a bit of trouble with them slipping when I had the carb off to clean it out. I had no idea the oem ones were specially formed rubbers. I got them off ebay, 'nc30 carburettor adapters' and they went on easy as pie. I'd just gotten home from work, pulled it all apart, and had it back on again around 30min. Might have been cos the engine was nice and warm, which heated the rubbers up? I had the bottom clamps all on tightened until you could feel resistance from the rubber after it had compressed a little, and the top ones quite loose - popped the front 2 in just by lining them up and giving it a shove, then used a screwdriver to shoe-horn the rear ones in around the rearmost edge. Another shove and it all popped into place - just like in your video.
