Well I managed to fit the workings from an original set into the chinese clocks must say there is a bit of difference in the quality of the workings.
The problem on the chinese clocks was caused by a blue coloured capactor/transistor (not sure what it was) about 30mm long and not having anything to support it other than the wire coming out of it this wire broke in half and caused the rev counter to stop working I tried to solder it back on but in the process of cleaning it with a bit of wire wool prior to soldering it I noticed the steel wool was heating up (strands glowing red ) this may have been the reason why they still failed to work when reassembled.
