COP(coils-on-plug). Which ones can be fitted?

Hi,

Maybe somebody made a research which COP (coils-on-plug) can be use in our cbr400 engine? I don't really care for now about dwell time, resistance/inductance and so on, because my EMS module able to setup for any of these parameters. The main point for me is size - I have tried Kawasaki ZX6R COPs and it looks like ok, but I like little bit smaller length.

For those who're interesting to use COP with your stock ignition system, you can use Bosch 0 227 100 124 which allow you to get very good spark in wasted spark mode at your cbr400. Here is link: http://www.microsquirt.info/Bosch_211.htm

Better spark. In cbr400 you have only 2 coils for 4 spark plugs (wasted spark mode), so you get split the energy of one HT coils between 2 plugs (1-4 or 2-3). With COP you get individual coils per plug and all energy that collect during dwell time used exactly to make spark at this plug.

This is tricky question what is the benefits for road bike - this is like for suspension - you can use stock 20 years old forks and shock and ride, and you can fit 10000$ ohlins and both of this will be unreasonable. First due to condition, second - due to price and sphere of usage. But for track bike such thing will be reasonable.
Same for these coils - if you like to avoid misfire this conversion will be reasonable and price shouldn't be more that 200$ or ever less.

Hi , its been covered loads on here and i run cop's on my bike. You will find it difficult to get a shorter cap for the look you want, i use the cbr6 and they stick up a little due to the 6's having deeper pockets than 4's due to larger valves etc. I run my cop's in series and although the voltage drop from series wiring means i only get 6v at each coil they still work better than the old twin coils. Im interested in the Bosh unit you posted as it looks to allow parallel wiring without the high amp load you would get if done normally, i think! if you wire in parallel with the standard set up would get components burning out due to the large amp flow.

Because I don't have measurements....

Ignition Module Control. You can't use 4 coils with stock ignition module - spark will be very very weak and probably ECU will burn.
