nc30 jap spec headlight bulbs to UK spec ?

Post by monkeywithaplan »

Here is a topic for thought.

12v 60/35w bulbs now cost a bomb. And if your like myself and struggle for a cheap aftermarket replacement, any thoughts on an easy way to prep the bike to accept 12v 60/55w bulbs like the UK spec.

Now bare in mind I know feck all about electrics so apologies if this is a very stupid question .

Cheers
David

I uprated my NC35 lights as they were too dim.

I fitted converter plates in the headlights with slots and ears to line up with the headlight and new bulb.
I forget where it came from and what it is called.

You will then need a dip relay that can be wired in and fitted on the LHS of the frame next to the connector blocks.
Rick Olivers nc30 fettling and tuning guide gives details, a Honda headlight relay can be obtained on e bay.

Lol @ rhory. I think your right. Anything more than duct tape and a hammer to get a job done and its too much effort.

Thanks for the info all

Cradley Kawasaki were selling them quite cheap on ebay, about 7.50 each iirc.

Maybe give them a phone as the ZXR400-L Jap model uses the same bulbs as the NC30.

All the usual places. Honda have bumped them up from £8 to £18 of late and everywhere else seems to have followed suit. Can't find aftermarket ones anywhere and if there for sale been bumped up aswell for a laugh. Got myself sorted though. Gareth had a working set he didn't need and kindly gave them to me .

But I think it would work out well, a cheap easy alternative for everyone if there was one. Don't fancy next year having to fork out near 50 instead of 40 for cheap ass bulbs when prices shoot up again.
