Usually bad connections are the first thing to check, if this doesn't help go to the website below and download the fault finding guide.... follow the instructions and hey presto.... your answer will appear, has worked for me several times, both of which were reg/rec problems

Re: Neutral light and clock back light bulbs not working
Cheers Ben, got a friend coming round tonight hopefully with a multimeter to try and work out where the problem is, then if it's the Reg/Rec I 'll get a new one ordered ASAP along with a new battery too.
Any suggestions of which Battery brand to go for? now that I've got a battery charger it'll be getting hooked up to that every night anyway, but want one that's decent but not ridiculously expensive either.
Thanks again for all the help and suggestions. Hopefully get to the bottom of this shortly and get back on it, man I miss being on a bike.

Re: Neutral light and clock back light bulbs not working
Well after my mate took a multimeter to the battery and checked about it seems that the battery is well screwed. Even tried the bike with one of his batteries to ensure it wasn't the Reg/Rec and it seemed ok, so just need to head out today and get a new battery.
As for the Neutral light and clock lights it would appear that they run off the same neutral cable running from behind the light to the clocks, we checked that it wasn't the neutral switch. So does anyone have a wiring diagram for the SF? Would make it a bit easier for checking it all. But will just need to take the clocks off, unwrap all the wires, find the potential break or waterdamaged area joining all these wires and solder a new link. Fingers crossed it's nice and straightforward.

Got one for the CB-1 here

Hopefully it's useful to you? The wiring of the two bikes is basically the same I think. The clocks are certainly near-identical.
