slight tapping noise

slight tapping noise

ok so been on the site for a while now ;) but need some help as i gave my vfr400 nc30 a frashing 180kph wot ever that is lol.Any way noticed a slight tapping noise sound some were on left hand side of engine i think ? could any one help me out as wot it could be :pray:cheers

valve clearances maybe? see the sticky at the top of this forum section

do you know the last time they were checked?
don't take my diagnosis as gospel, im just throwing suggestions at you. it could be a number of things less difficault than the Valve Clearances.

the guide to checking them at the top of the workshop section
viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1943

is far batter than the haynes guide to doing them.

These engines make lots of tappet noise, especiallly when really hot. It's normal.

I wouldn't be too concerned, but it's a good idea to check the valve clearances if you don't know when it was last done.

Not if you pull up next to a ZXR400 they don't :whistle:   :mrgreen:
